Shilo Inns Newport Oceanfront

Yes the rooms are outdated but so is all of Newport. It is a throwback to a time before USB plugs. Bring your wall adapters. The views are spectacular and the rooms are roomy. We cycled the coast last year and this was the kind of place we liked where we could easily bring our gear and bikes in the room and still walk around. Plenty of great restaurants are walkable like La Maison and Pacific Kitchen. We took the Presidential suite for Thanksgiving with 5 people. It was larger than my daughter’s apartment. Had a full kitchen and birds perching on the railing. Just pleasant. Like going to grandmas house years ago. The pool is closed for winter and I doubt the restaurant is open but that is not what you come here for. Go walk on the beach and explore the local fare. You don’t need to be offended by mistakes and eat at McDonalds like some other reviewers.

We arrived 90 minutes before check in and Shelly was so accommodating and kind. She let us check in early and gave us a room with a beautiful view of the ocean. The bed was beyond comfortable and the pillows were great too!

Older hotel. Needs work/upkeep. Rooms not fancy but clean. Awesome ocean views and sounds. Staff outstanding. I stay here EVERY time I visit Newport!!

We absolutely love this hotel. Every room has an unobstructed view of the ocean. We have our favorite room. The front staff are very accommodative. The room is fresh and clean. The bed is perfect, not too hard, and not too soft. The only thing that isn't great, but is no way a deal breaker, is the tv doesn't show program info.

Friends stayed here while we stayed a block east. There is no AC in the rooms, and the only window (which was facing the ocean) had minimal openings to ensure no one could fit through or fall out of them. So it got *warm* in the room due to lack of airflow. Location is outstanding for beach lovers. This hotel, like others on the coast surrounding it, had a very awkward to enter/leave parking garage. I heard multiple cars scrapping/dragging their undercarriage coming and going. To the hotel’s credit, there were ample signs warning of scraping risk, but the angles are aggressive. Also, garage’s max height is 6’9”, but there is street parking nearby.

I recently enjoyed a stay at Shilo Inns Newport. The beachfront access was a major highlight, providing stunning ocean views and easy access to the beach for morning strolls. The front desk staff were exceptionally responsive and promptly addressed any concerns I had, ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience. The rooms were cozy and up to date, providing a comfortable and modern place to sleep and unwind. The only downside was that the rooms could get somewhat hot and stuffy when the weather was warm. However, this minor inconvenience did not overshadow the overall positive experience I had. In short, Shilo Inns Newport offers a fantastic beachfront location, excellent service, and comfortable accommodations, making it a great choice for a coastal getaway.

Currently changing owners since the Shilo Inn bankruptcy. The hotel is now called Seagrass Oceanfront Inn. It will soon be completely remodeled and brought back to life. Amazing ocean views in every room and a staircase down to the beach. Super friendly staff.

Dan at the front desk was very funny, and very easy going. His customer service was excellent and made my decision to stay at the Shilo certain. The location right near the beach and near a restaurant I like was a plus. But the downside was the “upgraded” room we got had no air conditioning, the tv channels are local only, and the hallway to the room would really benefit from 100w LED lights instead of the 60w equivalent that’s out there. Ultimately, my stay was entirely pleasant due to the great customer service I received from whoever answered the phone initially, and Dan who booked us.
